Postnuptial Agreement

A Postnuptial Agreement is similar to a Prenuptial Agreement, except that it is put in place after the parties are married rather than before. Why would this occur? The answer may be, for example, that couples who have been married and find their financial arrangements to be either confused or the source of conflict may want to clarify this relationship in a written agreement.

Entering into a Postnuptial Agreement the couple may seek to take the focus off the finances, since such an Agreement could serve to sort out, structure and make clear financial rights and responsibilities in the marriage. This would allow them to put their attention on each other and improve the relationship without being concerned about what the other is doing or not doing in the financial arena.
